The Role

We’re looking for a VP of Engineering to join our leadership team and help shape the technical future of TaskRay. In this role, you’ll own engineering execution and technical strategy while building a healthy, scalable, and high-performing engineering organization. You’ll partner closely with Product and go-to-market leaders to ensure we’re delivering the right solutions with the right architecture, securely, reliably, and at scale. You’ll be accountable for how work gets done, how teams are structured, and how engineering contributes to company strategy. You’ll also play a key role in evolving our Salesforce-native architecture and thoughtfully leveraging AI to improve both the product and how engineering operates.

What you’ll do:

  • Serve on the executive leadership team to shape the long-term vision and strategy of TaskRay, representing engineering priorities, risks, and opportunities
  • Own engineering execution and delivery across multiple product workstreams, balancing roadmap commitments with architectural integrity, dependencies, and team capacity
  • Partner closely with Product and other executive peers to translate company and product strategy into technical direction, delivery plans, and resourcing decisions
  • Establish and evolve engineering operating rhythms (planning, sprint cycles, release management) to enable predictable, high-quality, and continuous delivery in a Salesforce-native architecture
  • Drive improvements in engineering effectiveness, including delivery predictability, quality, system reliability, and team health (not just sprint velocity)
  • Set technical direction and guardrails for the platform, including architecture, scalability, performance, and long-term maintainability
  • Collaborate with Product to evaluate AI-related product opportunities from feasibility, architecture, and risk perspectives
  • Champion the responsible adoption of AI-assisted development practices (e.g., code generation, testing, documentation) to improve productivity and developer experience
  • Build, scale, and retain a high-performing engineering organization by defining team structure, hiring plans, career paths, and leadership development
  • Coach and develop engineering leaders and team members through regular feedback, performance reviews, and mentorship
  • Advocate for engineering excellence, including technical documentation, proactive management of technical debt, and continuous improvement of tooling and development practices
  • Ensure engineering practices meet Salesforce ISV requirements and customer expectations around security, compliance, and data privacy
  • Roll up your sleeves when needed to unblock teams, guide critical technical decisions, or support high-impact releases

What you bring to the table:

  • B2B SaaS engineering leadership: Proven experience leading engineering execution and technical strategy in a B2B SaaS environment; Salesforce ecosystem and ISV experience required
  • People leadership & scaling: Track record of building, scaling, and developing engineering teams in mid-sized companies (25–200 employees)
  • Salesforce platform expertise: Deep familiarity with the Salesforce Platform and ISV development model, including Apex, LWC, packaging, and platform constraints
  • Technical depth & application architecture: Strong hands-on background designing and scaling modern, customer-facing applications, with experience across system architecture and front-end technologies (React, JavaScript, TypeScript)
  • Strong decision-maker: Ability to make sound technical and organizational decisions in ambiguous environments, using data, experience, and judgment
  • AI fluency: Practical experience applying AI tools or techniques to improve software development workflows, productivity, or system capabilities
  • Clear communicator & collaborator: Excellent communication skills with the ability to align engineering, product, and business stakeholders
  • Growth-oriented leader: Self-aware, open to feedback, and committed to continuous improvement for yourself, your teams, and the engineering organization

Compensation

Cash compensation for this role is commensurate with experience. Estimated salary range is between $180,000-$225,000. This position is also eligible for bonus based on performance targets and equity.

Additionally, TaskRay offers highly competitive non-cash compensation including:
